The Administration Console allows eWebReports to integrate with your application and connect to your data. Combined with power of our .NET or Web Services API, you can ensure that your clients' end users will have a consistent user experience when creating, editing and executing ad hoc reports within your software.
Starting with a single sign on through your application and continuing with eWebReports having the 'look and feel' of your product, easy to use and comprehensive ad hoc reporting will become an integrated part of the solution you provide to your clients.
The Data, General, Roles and Styles tabs of the Administration Console provide you, the host application, with both integration and data connection capabilities.
Connecting to Data Sources – Using the Data Tab, you can configure the data source(s) and data objects that will be made available for users to create reports. This allows user-friendly naming and organization by categories for data objects, making them more easily understood. Multiple data sources can be used to create a report and data objects that can not be joined in the database (such as stored procedures) can be combined in code with other data objects. Multiple clients can be maintained on a single or multiple databases or a combination of both. You can also define the relationship of the data objects/joins so that end users do not have to understand the underlying data architecture to create a report. View the Data Tab screen »
General Application Settings – Under the General Tab, you can configure default application and run time settings. These settings outline how the application handles various items including direct access to the reports page and error logging. Global default values can be set up for such parameters as date and time, currency symbols, database row limit, database timeout, report path and parameters that allow communication between eWebReports and stored procedures. In addition, Automated Report Scheduling parameters can be set, including the ability to protect PDF files that are being emailed. View the General Tab screen »
Configuring Access Using Roles – The Roles Tab is used to configure access to the different areas of eWebReports. This can be used to control access to various reports, folder, and objects. Roles can also be created and/or modified at run time through the eWebReports API. Report folders can be made 'execute only,' providing a method to deploy standard reports to all or selected groups of clients. In addition, access to a folder(s) can be limited by end user. Both data objects and data object rows can be limited by end user as well. General parameters such as date and time, currency, and decimal symbols and Advanced Tools functions access can also be set. Styling the Interface – With the Styles Tab you can configure the eWebReports interface to match your company's graphic 'look and feel.' Our easy-to-use graphical interface allows administrators to change the most common elements of eWebReports. These changes are saved to a custom XML document which ensures they are not overwritten during upgrades. By simply clicking on the area of the image you want to change, an entry box appears for updates to the color, image, etc. View the Styles Tab screen »
Utilizing the API allows you to tightly integrate eWebReports with your application.
eWebReports' APIs – The eWebReports Application Program Interface (API) is used to communicate directly with eWebReports at runtime. API methods are available to control user session parameters, such as security privileges, data connection information, and direct report execution. Two versions of the API are available: a .NET assembly which can be used directly with .NET applications, and a Web Service which is platform independent. View Integration Sample »
